We hope you’ll be able to join us for two 10th Anniversary online research events taking place in October! They are being organised by our two longest established Research Interest Groups, the Edinburgh Research Interest Group and the East Midlands Research Interest Group . Anyone is welcome, regardless of where they live, so please feel free to share these invitations with others who may be interested.People sat in an auditorium watching a lectureThe Edinburgh Parkinson’s Lecture 2021 with Professor Roger Barker: ‘Repairing the brain in Parkinson’s – Is this possible?’
 When: 7 October 2021, 7 – 9pm

What: Inaugurated by the Edinburgh Branch of Parkinson’s UK, the annual Edinburgh Parkinson’s Lecture attracts internationally renowned experts to inform and educate a large annual audience and to review progress in research. This year’s Edinburgh Lecture will be delivered by Professor Roger Barker, Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge and Consultant Neurologist at the Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridge. 

After the lecture there will be an audience Q&A session.

The 10th Annual East Midlands Research Forum with speakers Professor David Dexter, Dr Heather Mortiboys, Dr Perdita Barran, and Dr Simon Stott: ‘Latest research developments’When: 9 October 2021, 9:45am – 12:45pm

What: This year’s Forum will feature talks on using technology to accelerate Parkinson’s research; what we know about the changes in energy levels in different cell types of people with Parkinson’s and ways in which this might be targeted by new drugs; using sebum to determine diagnostic biomarkers of Parkinson’s, inspired by Joy Milne who can ‘smell Parkinson’s’; and the recent clinical trial results and developments focused on slowing, stopping or reversing the progression of the condition.

There will be plenty of time for Q&A with all the speakers.
