Parkinson’s UK – Notice of 2021 Annual General Meeting, 10am Saturday 16 October 2021
I am writing to give you notice, as a member of Parkinson’s UK, of our Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2021. I attach the formal notice and explanatory notes for the AGM which contain more detailed information on the day, as well as how to register to join remotely.
Last year we held our first virtual AGM and virtual Members’ Events. We were delighted that we had
more members than ever before attend these events, and would love to see even more of you this year. This year we are holding these events virtually again. As we started planning for them in April it was still unclear whether we would legally be able to hold them in person and even now as the country opens up we know many of our members will still have concerns about attending large events in person.
I would like you all to have the opportunity to ask your questions of the board, and to hear our answers. To aid this process I would encourage you to submit questions to me in advance at: agm@parkinsons.org.uk. Due to time constraints we may not be able to cover all questions live at the AGM but we will ensure anyone who asks a question receives a response. This year at the AGM two of our longest standing trustees will retire: Margaret Chamberlain, Chair of the People Committee and Tim Tamblyn, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. I’d like to give my sincere thanks to both Margaret and Tim for their incredible support of the charity over their combined 14 years as trustees. Being a trustee is a challenging role and both Margaret and Tim have given significant time, energy and experience, particularly over the past difficult 18 months, for which the board is very grateful.
Looking forward, we have an exciting selection of candidates for our trustee elections this year. I hope you will all vote and I look forward to welcoming our successful candidates to the board.
I do hope you can join us at this year’s event.Best wishes,
Gary Shaughnessy
